July 28, 2022:

Our NEW GPS Trailer Tracking script.

As many cargo and utility trailers only have the small brake batteries on them, our programming associates have come up with a NEW SCRIPT that covers: MOVING and STOP MOVING requests ; Provide a heartbeat per day; keep the asset secure- without compromising the integrity of the small battery.

In order to not compromise the voltage for the brakes after SITTING.. we have utilized the  following script:

  • When moving, you will get a STARTED moving event and update  every x minutes while moving.
  • When the trailer stops.. for more than 5 minutes- it will change to STOPPED MOVING and send that message ( STOPPED MOVING)to the report.
  • At that 5 minute STOPPED moving time, the tracker will, in order to not drain the BRAKE battery- go into a deep sleep only to wake up on MOVING or 1 x 24 hr heartbeat .

This means.,. while in that sleep mode (crucial to maintain  the brake battery) you cannot ping the device.

Our programmers have been working on this script for a while  to facilitate such scenarios and think this is a good ALL AROUND script to provide data needed by the customer and be able to secure the asset without putting a strain on the small brake batteries on such trailers.

Oh..best part.. monthly tracking- $15.99 per month

Hardware (GPS and Enclosure box): starting at $165.00

Installation services available.

Hope this  helps

We are also pleased to share:

One our customers / clients recently had one of his trucks with trailer removed from the Province.

The unit was tracked through the GPS solution installed in the truck to the City of Edmonton.

The customer/ client flew out to Edmonton- Physically saw the truck and trailer and called the local authorities.

The person who was in possession of the assets became aware of the police presents but..

after a chase involving up to 10 police vehicles and 1 helicopter, he is not in custody and the assets are on the easy back to the lower mainland.

How TO TRACK BACK:

See the route and stops of the past.

This OPTION is very handy if you want to visually see and map put the route an asset travelled in a particular time line.

When it compiles the data (route) on the map, you also get a update list to the left that shows events logged from the GPS. (aka – specific report for that time line)

  • Open the login on your DESKTOP (not your phone or in the app)
  • In the navigation bar of the platform, you will see Tracking. (see below)- CLICK Tracking

gps login screen

Now, look to the bottom right of the screen. You will see  this screen

  • Before  you click on PLAY BACK, Choose the UNIT from your UNIT list (see 1st screen above) if you have more than 1.
  • If you have just 1, you can skip this step and choose your time period. Now hit PLAY BACK and you get this.

GPS Track Back screen

  • Notice you have the start (green) and end (red) or actually they are START and STOP markers but to the left of the map you have all the data for that period also.

In addition to this information, we have also added a  HOW TO  PAGE where this and other helpful articles can be found to assist you using the platform

January 20, 2019:

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all We expect this year to be a great one with new ideas and innovations being worked on in follow up to your ideas and requests.

Once the BIGGEST requests came from a major client of ours; to design an OBD2 extension that could actually replace the OBD2  connection in the vehicle. It would have to have two connectors on one end. One for the original- stock- obd2 to plug into and one for the LMU-330H Calamp obd2 tracker to plug into.

The biggest problem we could see was that the connection types for many vehicle manufactures are not standard.  IE: Ford is not the same as GMC or Chrysler etc etc.

Well, after much consultation, time and .. YES- Money-   we have completed the task with our new Y-CABLE extension… and.. we have them configured to meet almost any manufacturer type.

obd2 y-cable

The connection you see on the far left is the OBD2 receptacle end. It goes into the slot where your stock On Board Diagnostic port / receptacle (OBD)  would normally be found. The other end of the Y will receive your OBD cable from the vehicle and the other is for your tracking device.

MAIN BENEFITS: Your tracking device can not be out of site and secured behind the dash area.  Anyone looking at your OBD receptacle will only see what appears to be the stock port / receptacle.

The third benefit is COST. Our old extensions, which plugged in to the front of the stock port sold for $22.99. This new design is available at $15.99 plus taxes. – $7.00 saving per extension.

How difficult is it to install? Our client that requested the design is an Automobile dealership. It takes their mechanic approximately 5 minutes.

April 2, 2018- Installation for Electric Vehicles:

While at the Vancouver Car Show the past week, a vendor asked a question: Can our GPS TRACKING units be installed in an EV (Electric Vehicle) ? The vendor had been told by another GPS TRACKING company that it could not be done.

Our answer to the question is- “YES”. As a matter of fact our installers have installed both 2 wire and 3 wire GPS  TRACKING units into everything from a “LEAF” to a TESLA”.

With vehicle owners moving to the more cost efficient Electric Vehicle (move away from gas and diesel power), in time, this will be more of the “NORM” than the exception.

Installing into an EV is not much different  than installing in to a electric cart like the Golf Cart. Anything that has 12 or 24 volt power can be a candidate for our GPS TRACKING  hardware and plans when it comes to vehicles.

For the most part, we recommend that you use the LMU-330H hardwired GPS TRACKER from CalAmp

October- 2016: Update:

GPS TRACKING CENTRE has evaluated two new products.

    • We have found and evaluated 2 –  3G personal GPS with Panic Alarm (SOS)  and one with two way voice have worked quite well in testing / evaluation.  These units are now on our web site under PERSONAL GPS in the drop down menu.

NEW PRODUCT ROLL-OUT

  • We have completed the design and ROLL-OUT of our own Covert- Slap n- Track – unit. We have gone this route, replacing the Micron and AtLite units as we move forward into HSPA ONLY units. HSPA is 3G  and will offer a more stable environment as the Cellular networks make their changes. It will only get better!!. A formal announcement will follow once we have finished tweaking and evaluating.
